WHY: |
Investigation of new and existing psychedelic molecules are showing therapeutic potential in the treatment of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, cluster and migraine headaches, alcohol, nicotine and other substance use disorders. |
|
The hope for this work continues to grow from many years of academic research to a raised level of public awareness in the mainstream. And as new scientific studies come out, we are seeing the interest expand into public policy as referenced by the Director of NIH and a new law at the state level. Usona Institute works across the spectrum from drug discovery and clinical research to FDA approval and delivery of care.
Among its high priority areas of work, Usona is currently sponsoring a Phase 2 clinical trial in the study of psilocybin as a treatment for Major Depressive Disorder under FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation. The study is running at multiple sites across the US including the UW Madison. |
ABOUT USONA:
Usona Institute is a non-profit medical research organization created to serve the public good with an open science model of operation. We conduct and support pre-clinical and clinical research to further the understanding of the therapeutic effects of psilocybin and other consciousness-expanding medicines. Our focus is on alleviating depression and anxiety in people for whom current medical treatments fall short in offering relief and a better quality of life.
