NICE’s approval of Merck’s Erbitux combination gives more choice for mCRC patients in England

English wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients are getting more choice to a first-line effective treatment, as the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) gave a positive Final Appraisal Determination (FAD) recommending the routine National Health Service (NHS) use of Merck’s Erbitux (cetuximab) in combination with either Folfiri or Folfox.

Syros finds alterations in the regulatory regions of genome tumor-associated macrophages in subset of pancreatic cancer tissues

Syros scientists discovered alterations in regulatory regions of the genome in tumor-associated macrophages in a subset of patient tissues, the company said on Tuesday. Because these alterations are unique to the immunosuppressive state, they could point to genes critical for driving immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment, as well as potential drug targets to reactivate the immune system to fight cancer.
