Cindy Buckmaster joins Turner Scientific, LLC
August 2, 2022JACKSONVILLE, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Turner Scientific, a world leader in laboratory monitoring and nonclinical hearing research, is pleased to announce that Cindy Buckmaster, Ph.D., has joined its laboratory monitoring team as Chief Operating Officer of Facility Monitoring Services. Dr. Buckmaster was previously the Director of the Center for Comparative Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and is currently a Strategic Advisor for Transnetyx.

Dr. Buckmaster has worked in research and laboratory animal science for over 25 years. She has a PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior which involved studies on how the brain supports cognition in monkeys. Cindy’s involvement in the lab animal community spans a wide range of educational, advocacy, and public outreach organizations, and she is frequently interviewed by the media to share her knowledge of basic research with animals and laboratory animal care. In addition to her role with Transnetyx, she is currently the Director for Public Outreach with the National Animal Interest Alliance, Past-Chair and Spokesperson for Americans for Medical Progress, and the President of the Texas Society for Biomedical Research. “I am honored to represent Turner Scientific and believe strongly in their mission to drive more rigorous and reproducible science,” said Dr. Buckmaster. “We have an unprecedented opportunity to improve the translatability of research with animals to our patients and I am excited to get started!”
Dr. Buckmaster will assume a leadership role in the development and sale of Turner Scientific’s Sensory SentinelTM, its flagship product which alerts scientists and facility managers to excessive and stressful environmental stimuli experienced by animals. She will also consult with clients to promote ethical care of their animals and study reproducibility. Lastly, Dr. Buckmaster will assist Turner Scientific’s hearing research business in establishing its novel minipig model for preclinical auditory studies.
