BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–1910 Genetics, a biotechnology company integrating artificial intelligence (AI), computation and biological automation to improve drug development, today announced that the company has opened its new headquarters in Boston’s Seaport District, building dedicated laboratory and office facilities. The new location will allow 1910 Genetics to accommodate its growing leadership and scientific teams, and advance its multi-module drug platforms for the discovery of new classes of small molecule and protein therapeutics. The company was previously located at the LabCentral incubator in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
“This marks a significant milestone for 1910 Genetics as we join the burgeoning Seaport District, which has witnessed an exponential growth in the life sciences ecosystem, housing innovative biopharma companies discovering and developing medical breakthroughs,” said Jen Nwankwo, Ph.D., 1910 Genetics’ Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “As we continue to focus on decreasing drug failure rates and increasing R&D productivity, the new facility and its state-of-the-art research labs and offices will help us expand our R&D capabilities, establish collaborations with local biotech and pharma partners, and build our pipeline of novel drug candidates.”
Situated in Boston’s growing biopharma cluster in the Seaport District, the company’s new headquarters is on the 9th floor of the 451 D Street building. Conveniently located near Logan International Airport and public transportation hubs, the original building was built in 1910 and later renovated in 2016 with a new lobby and tenant amenity center, and is currently housing several biotech companies. 1910 Genetics’ facility is a dedicated suite of more than 8,000 square feet in office, conference and laboratory space that is purpose-built and uniquely customized for sophisticated robotic, computation and biological automation capabilities to engineer biology and accelerate drug discovery.
“1910 Genetics is at the cutting edge of groundbreaking research at the intersection of AI and the life sciences and we are proud that much of that work is happening in Massachusetts,” said Lt. Governor Karyn Polito. “1910 Genetics’ new facility in the Seaport is a welcome addition to the Commonwealth’s thriving life sciences sector.”
“We’d like to congratulate 1910 Genetics on establishing its footprint in the Boston Seaport District, an area that has seen robust growth in the biotechnology and healthcare space,” said Joe Boncore, CEO of MassBio. “The company’s revolutionary platform using AI to decrease the timeline and costs of drug discovery to get life-saving therapies to patients faster is an important step forward, and we are excited to support their vision.”
