Polio is making comeback, says UNHCR, after being nearly eradicated in the past decade. Lack of information has lead to complete ignorance, and abundance of misinformation propagated mostly by social media without control, antivax people, has lead to avoiding immunization. Not only Polio in the world. Locally, or more regionally, there are other diseases spreading among certain populations where immunization has fallen behind amid increased antivax propaganda.
Covid 19 pandemic has opened a gap in the topic of immunization, and the surge of misinformation has in effect made people abandon trusting in medicine as a science.
I really hope that we as a community can spread more information and let people actually see how it works. Let’s do what we can at least to explain what is immunization, and if people want to believe that certain manufacturers of medicines, vaccines, cheat them, that might be another topic, but a lot of disbelief uprises from general lack of knowledge about how virus behaves, what is biology, etc.
This is not about business, it’s about common elementary or middle school knowledge about microbiology.
