Some pharmaceutical companies are donating money to support people in Ukraine and are condemning the war and violence in Ukraine.
Abbott, the USA headquartered company, has announced its donation of USD 2 million to support Ukrainian people. In its press release, Abbott said that its top priority is supporting the safety and wellbeing of its Ukrainian employees.
Novartis said in a press release on March 4th, it would donate USD 3 million. It also said that it would donate vital medicines to make sure people in Ukraine receive the crucial support they need now and in the future.
Novartis said: “We remain committed to providing access to medicines to patients in every country where we operate. At the same time, we are careful to comply with the new international sanctions imposed upon Russia. Our purpose guides us and our focus is always on improving human health globally—and that focus transcends borders and politics.”
Swiss pharma giant Roche has also announced donating essential medicines to Ukraine. Roche announced donating 150,000 packages of Rocephin, a critical antibiotic used to treat the symptoms of many kinds of bacterial infections and listed on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines.
