Ineos Styrolution presents two new styrenics grades at Pharmapack 2017, Paris

Pharmapack 2017, in Paris, has kicked off today, hosting more 400 exhibitors, with the most recent industry innovations in the spotlight.

In line with that, INEOS Styrolution, the global player in styrenics, has announced two new styrenics grades, both of which designed for very specific use by medical device manufacturers. Those are Novodur HD M203FC G3 glass fiber filled ABS, and Styrolux 4G60, a specific drip chamber SBC grade.

Describing Novodur HD M203FC G3, Ineos says it is a glass fiber filled medical polymer grade which is certified against the relevant parts of the biocompatibility standard ISO 10993. The new grade increases stiffness in combination with a high flowability making it useful for medical spikes and applications requiring structural stability.

As for the other product, Styrolux 4G60, it has been specifically designed for the development of drip chambers in IV sets. This new grade represents the first solution of the fourth generation of advanced copolymer materials. Ineos suggests Styrolux 4G60 for the production of drip chamber containers, due to its bonding properties.

“We have developed these new solutions in close cooperation with our customers,” explains Alexander Silvestre, Global Director – Healthcare. “To my knowledge, the new Novodur HD M203FC G3 grade is the first glass fiber filled polymer grade to be offered with the full complement of healthcare compliance documents. We are providing medical device designers the option to choose a superior product that meets both the technical and regulatory demands that are indicative of the healthcare industry.”
