HilleVax Reports First Quarter 2023 Financial Results and Highlights Recent Company Progress

First Quarter 2023 Financial Results As of March 31, 2023, the company had cash and cash equivalents totaling $260.5 million. Research and development expenses for the first quarter 2023 were $23.2 million, compared to $6.2 million for the first quarter 2022. The increase was primarily due to increased efforts in the advancement of the HIL-214 program and the growth in the number of R&D employees and their related activities. General and administrative expenses for the first quarter 2023 were $5.8 million, compared to $2.6 million for the first quarter 2022. The increase was primarily due to the growth in the number of G&A employees and other administrative expenses related to operating as a public company. Other income for the first quarter 2023 was $2.1 million, compared to $56.6 million of other expense for the first quarter 2022. The other income in the first quarter of 2023 was primarily driven by interest income on the company’s cash and cash equivalents while the other expense in the first quarter of 2022 was primarily driven by changes in the fair value of convertible promissory notes and warrant liabilities. Net loss for the first quarter 2023 was $26.9 million, compared to $67.9 million for the first quarter 2022.
