Kern to Lead Engagement with Retailers and Manufacturers Leveraging Aromyx’s Data; Tap Scent Information to Help Brands with Customer Segmentation, Product Design and Trend Forecasting
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aromyx, a leading company in applying biotechnology and data science to capture unique sensory data, today announced that retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) consumer insights expert, Elise Kern, has joined the company as SVP of Data and Insights. Elise brings decades of experience in the Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods industries, primarily focused on understanding sales trends and consumer behavior in the retail environment, to Aromyx.
In this role, she will lead engagement with retailers and manufacturers leveraging Aromyx’s data to change how they design products, target demographics, forecast trends, and solve global issues around health and sustainability. She will help companies use the data from testing to equip them to be better marketers. One project Elise will lead is Aromyx’s work with a global prestige beauty brand focusing on the personalization of products and the connection with its customers.
“One of Elise’s greatest talents is her ability to serve as a liaison between the world of science and business. She uses language that makes sense to both groups to translate sales, loyalty interactions and data into stories that business people can understand,” said Josh Silverman, Aromyx’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have Elise join the team to help us take the data we produce for our clients and use it to fill the holes that previously existed due to an inability to measure consumer perceptions. She will help our clients to develop better product experience and customer loyalty based on the measurement of emotion.”
Prior to joining Aromyx, Elise worked at IRI, a worldwide market research and retail data insights service provider, where she led their engagement with Ahold Delhaize grocery store brand Hannaford Supermarkets. She also has previously worked for Kraft Foods in Sales and Finance roles and Walgreens in Finance and Loyalty Insights roles.
“After spending my career leveraging the consumer insights that were available from past behavior (like shopping trends), the idea that information exists around human perception and the ability to talk about senses alongside consumer behavior has phenomenal applications, tremendous white space, and a new ability to control the narrative. All of this was very intriguing to me,” said Kern. “I am thrilled to be joining Aromyx to help our clients solve a myriad of marketing challenges, including curating better product choices for customers to help them avoid decision fatigue—a common challenge cited by our customers.”
Elise holds a BS from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. She currently resides in Portland, Maine.
