With a website unveiled at the Innovation Expo and a presentation by
its Regulatory Affairs Director, new DKT International program DKT
WomanCare had a strong presence at the Reproductive Health Supplies
Coalition annual member meeting
WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DKT International, one of the largest private providers of family
planning products and services in the developing world, is proud to
announce the development of DKT WomanCare, a global reproductive health
marketing and distribution program. DKT
WomanCare provides products to all DKT country-based programs as
well as multi-lateral, governmental, commercial, and NGO partners.
As the exclusive global distributor of products like the Ipas MVA and
Levoplant contraceptive implant, the new DKT WomanCare website will
provide useful product information and ready-to-use marketing and
educational materials to help clinicians, program managers, government
representatives, and others directly contact in-country distributors to
purchase products quickly and effectively in their own currency. The
website features an e-commerce “portal” where qualified distributors can
purchase directly from DKT WomanCare – an innovation that will reduce
the regulatory and commercial complexity of marketing sexual and
reproductive health products and medical devices.
“The DKT WomanCare platform will allow us to increase availability and
access to reproductive health supplies for more public and private
health providers around the globe,” says Chris Purdy, CEO of DKT
International. “For example, DKT WomanCare is the exclusive global
distributor and marketer of the Ipas MVA technology, currently available
in more than 100 countries. It’s the world’s most utilized, safe and
effective surgical abortion technology which can also be used to manage
early pregnancy loss and endometrial biopsy. DKT WomanCare is also the
exclusive global distributor and marketer of Levoplant, a 3-year,
WHO-Prequalified contraceptive implant manufactured by Shanghai Dahua
Pharmaceutical. It is a long-acting, reversible contraceptive implant
(LARC) that provides protection against unwanted pregnancy at a low
cost. We acquired WomanCare Global to help us build the sort of
sustainable supply chain we needed as we expand the number of countries
where we sell products, increase the capacity of trained health
providers to deliver services, and support a robust service provision
environment.”
DKT WomanCare showcased its products and introduced attendees to its new
interactive website, designed to improve knowledge and access of
critical reproductive health products at the Innovations Expo as part of
the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition 19th General
Membership meeting.
Tracey Brett, DKT WomanCare’s Regulatory Affairs Director, was part of a
panel entitled, “What program managers need to know about product
registration.” Brett shared experiences and lessons learned
ushering the Levoplant implant through the approval and registration
process with the World Health Organization’s Collaborative Regulatory
Procedure (WHO CRP) to get fast track national regulatory approvals –
including successes, challenges, and timelines from submission to
approvals.
“We are delighted to launch DKT WomanCare’s new website and have
participated in the Innovations Expo in Kathmandu,” adds True Overholt,
Marketing Director of DKT WomanCare. “Hundreds of the world’s leaders
and experts in reproductive health supplies addressed the hard
questions, thought strategically, made connections, and planned for
upcoming years. As an integral player in the supply chain that feeds the
world’s family planning initiatives, it’s important for DKT WomanCare
both to contribute our knowledge and experience and learn from others.
We all have the same goal: empowering men and women to determine if and
when they will have children – no matter their economic status or
circumstance in their countries.”
Since 1989, DKT International’s core mission has been to provide safe
and affordable options for family planning and HIV prevention through
social marketing in underserved countries throughout Latin America,
Africa, and Asia.
