FAIRWAY, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BioKansas is hosting the 2019 Kansas
BioGENEius Challenge Finals on Thursday, April 25th, at
the KU Edwards Campus. Biotechnology is the utilization of biological
processes to develop technologies and products that improve lives and
the health of the planet. The BioGENEius Challenge is the premier high
school research competition for students involved in this type of
research. Previous students recognized at the Kansas BioGENEius
Challenge have gone on to win the International BioGENEius Competitions,
started their own companies, attended top research universities and won
national research competitions.
For the 2019 Finals, BioKansas selected six students from the Kansas
State Science & Engineering Fair and the Greater Kansas City Science &
Engineering Fair to give their presentations on April 25th,
where a panel of local industry judges will select one student to
advance to the International BioGENEius Challenge at the BIO
International Convention this June. There, they will have the
opportunity to compete against student researchers from across the world
and be recognized by industry for outstanding research in biotechnology.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the Kansas BioGENEius
Finals and see the student finalists showcase their research. A
networking reception will follow the presentations.

The Kansas BioGENEius Challenge is presented by BioKansas, the life
science trade association in the state of Kansas representing more than
175 member organizations across the human, plant, animal and industrial
